History of jaddah city

Jeddah is a city on the shores of the Red Sea in the historic region of Tahama in the Hijaz region, an important commercial and cultural center of western Saudi Arabia. It is also the largest city in the Makkah region and the largest port in the Red Sea. With a population of about four million (as of 2017), it is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh and the economic capital of Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the city of Jeddah is an important gateway to the Holy Shrines (the holiest places in Islam, the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and the Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah). Although there is an airport in Madinah through which some pilgrims and pilgrims reach there directly, Jeddah airport is central in this regard.
